Every detail in AR-T Streetwear tells a story. But one of the most special details isn’t just in the design—it’s in the stitching. At 83 years old, my grandmother sews every neck label into my clothing, either by hand or with her sewing machine. It’s a small touch, but one that carries decades of craftsmanship, dedication, and love.
A Love for Sewing That Started Early
My grandmother’s passion for working with her hands began when she was just 14 years old. During the summer, she worked in the Eda drugstore (which later became Etos) with her best friend. It wasn’t sewing, but it gave her a sense of independence and the satisfaction of earning her own money.
She enjoyed working so much that she, along with her mother, decided she would quit school to keep earning. At the time, it felt like the right decision. But as the years went by, she deeply regretted not finishing her education. She had dreamed of becoming a professional seamstress, earning a diploma from the household school and turning her love for sewing into a real career.
Learning by Doing
Even without formal training, my grandmother never stopped sewing. She bought patterns from stores, carefully arranging the fabric to avoid waste. She took great pride in her work, especially when she made a full suit for her sons. However, sewing was always something she did for herself and her family—never as a business.
As time passed, fashion changed. Clothing became cheaper, making it less practical to sew at home. But her love for craftsmanship never faded. She continued working with her hands, knitting, embroidering, and creating whenever she could.
From Tradition to Streetwear
Now, decades later, she plays a vital role in AR-T Streetwear, ensuring that each piece has a personal and handcrafted touch. Her work is more than just sewing labels—it’s about preserving tradition and proving that craftsmanship never goes out of style.
When people wear my designs, they aren’t just wearing streetwear. They are wearing history, dedication, and the hands of a woman who has been crafting with love for nearly a lifetime.
